Busy mamas, let's read the Gospel of John together!
/I know you're busy, and I know life is crazy because I'm right here with you.
With that said, I'm gonna go ahead and invite you and challenge you to do this with me: read the Gospel of John with your kids!
The Gospel of John is, in the words of the author:
Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
There can't possibly be a better place to begin the journey of daily Bible reading with your children. And here's why my kids and I LOVE the way we've been reading with a group of leaders and girls in our youth ministry!
I created this little booklet that we've been reading through each week... one chapter a week, just a few verses a day (excluding Saturday and Sunday.) The challenge is to read daily using our "lite" version of Lectio Divina (which differs fairly significantly from it's original form.) You will find it fully explained in the first page of the booklet... but our desire is to read and gain from God's written Word within it's original context, growing not through feelings and experiences, but in truth and grace, knowing the glory of God through all He has revealed to us in His scriptures, and seeing these truths as applicable in our lives today... then meet together once a week and share what God has been teaching us! ...and y'all, every week I am just blown completely away by the wisdom these teenagers share from their time in the Word of God.
And not only that, but the questions and comments brought by my four year old as we have read... she's thinking, processing, learning. I am loving it!
...and I would love for you to join us on this journey! I've included the 'John ONE' booklet for download here!
Each Monday, I'll add the booklet for the following chapter and share a little from what I've been learning and how I've been growing as I journey through this incredible book.
*most posts will be 'mom-related,' but here and there I may throw in something for those amazing girls reading with me and inspiring me! <3 )*
